Bayou Girl Apothecary was founded by Katherine Brooks — an Emmy Award–winning producer, artisan herbalist, and amateur mycologist with a passion for natural beauty and rebellious wellness.
What began as one jar of homemade Reishi serum in her kitchen has grown into a full apothecary line of botanical extracts, functional mushroom formulas, and potent skin + body care.
Katherine’s apothecary line is crafted in small batches under Illinois Cottage Food Law, using only GRAS-listed (Generally Recognized as Safe) ingredients. Every tincture, extract, balm, and oil is made by hand, using homegrown herbs, cultivated fungi, and ethically sourced botanicals. No wild-foraged mushrooms are used in any registered product — every item meets or exceeds current state guidelines for compliance and safety.
